Pune: New Club Poona Celebrates Baisakhi With Grand Cultural Event

Camp, 16th April 2023: The New Club (Poona) in Pune recently organized a grand celebration for the annual harvest festival of Baisakhi. The event, titled Baisakhi Dhamal by Poona Petroleum Company Private Limited, was hosted by Ajit Singh Rajpal Pune, president of the club and Poona Petroleum Private Limited.

The celebration saw a strong gathering from the Punjabi community of Pune, as well as many other communities, including Hindus, Muslims, and others.

Channi Mastana from Delhi performed at the event, which was attended by the who’s who of the Pune Sikh Community. The chief guest of the evening was Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Chairman of the National Minority Commission of India.

According to Rajpal, the event was an important part of the vibrant cultural and religious festivals observed by the Sikh community in Pune. “Programmes like these go a long way in creating strong bonds of communitarian spirit, friendship, and brotherhood in society. We will be holding many such events at our club to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the community and our nation,” he said.

Raj Singh, founder of the Sikh Helpline and an ace badminton player, said that the festival brings people from all communities on one platform and represents the cosmopolitan spirit of India. He added that events like Baisakhi Dhamal play an important role in promoting cultural diversity and communal harmony.
