Pune, 18th April 2023: The minimum fare for black and yellow taxis in Pune district has been revised to Rs 31 from 18th April for the first 1.5 km distance, as per Regional Transport Office (RTO) Pune Member Secretary and Regional Transport Officer Dr. Ajit Shinde. The fare payable for every kilometer beyond that has been increased to Rs 21.

The decision was taken following the recommendation of the Khatua Committee in the meeting of the Regional Transport Office (Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Baramati) held under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh.

The deadline for meter calibration of black and yellow taxis is from 18th April to 16th June 2023. The concerned vehicles should be presented at the Alandi Road Test Ground of the Regional Transport Office during this period for meter calibration. The fare revision will be applicable for those taxi drivers who revalidate their meters from 18th April.

Action will be taken against the taxi drivers who do not get the meter calibrated within the time limit. “Failure to calibrate the meter within the time limit shall be one day for every day of delay but a minimum of seven days and the maximum suspension period shall be 40 days. If the option of compromise fee is taken instead of suspension, it will be Rs. 50 for each day after the expiry of the term but the minimum will be Rs. 500 and the maximum compromise fee will be up to Rs. 2,000,” Shinde informed further.
