Pune: Farmers And Citizens Gather In Protest Against PMC’s Action On Onion Sellers

Pune, 17th April 2023: The Anti-Encroachment Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) seized the tempo of farmers selling onions on the street and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000. For the past eight days, the PMC has been making the tempo drivers fight to get rid of their vehicles.

In protest, former minister and leader of Rayat Kranti Sanghtna, Sadabhau Khot, sold onions at the doorstep of the municipal corporation today.

Khot said that the PMC’s action was frustrating the already struggling farmers, and this would be the end of their patience. He demanded that the municipal administration should take immediate action against Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of Anti-Encroachment Department, who took this action and prevented farmers from leaving their vehicles.

On this occasion, farmers present along with Khot sold onions, and a large number of citizens gathered to witness the sudden movement in front of the Municipal Corporation.
