Ahmedabad, 16th April 2023: Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer each scored a quickfire fifty to help the Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeat Gujarat Titans (GT) by three wickets in the 23rd match of IPL today at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Batting first, Gujarat reached 177 runs in 20 overs. Rajasthan passed this challenge in 19.2 overs at the cost of seven batsmen. RR got off to a poor start in their chase, lost a few wickets, and found themselves in trouble before Samson sparked it with a barrage of sixes.

Shimron Hetmyer made a valuable contribution to this victory by scoring an unbeaten 56 off 26 balls. Captain Sanju Samson scored 60 runs in 32 balls. From Gujarat, Mohammed Shami took three wickets and Rashid Khan took two wickets to make Rajasthan’s chase difficult.

Rajasthan’s Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami, who remained in the field after taking Gujarat’s challenge of 178 runs, made the situation four runs on two wickets. Devdutt Padikkal and Sanju Samson pulled Rajasthan out of this shocking start. Both of them took Rajasthan to 47 runs in the ninth over.

But after this, Padikkal was dismissed after scoring 26 runs and Riyan Parag after scoring five runs. Spinner Rashid Khan took Rajasthan to 55 for four wickets. It was not thought that Rajasthan would win the match in this situation. But captain Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer put on a 59-run partnership in the next four overs to keep the match alive.

But this pair was broken by Noor Ahmad. He dismissed Sanju for 60 runs. After this, Hetmyer took control of the innings. He took the match to the last over with aggressive hitting. Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel scored 18 while R Ashwin played a short but very important inning of ten runs.

But these two were tracked down by Mohammed Shami. Meanwhile, Shimron Hetmyer brought the match to seven runs in the last over. He completed his half-century by scoring two runs off Noor Ahmad’s first ball. After this, he ended the match by hitting a six on the very next ball.
