Wanowrie, 16th April 2023: A protest has been started against the illegal hoardings and dumping of debris at Survey No. 64 in Wanowrie. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has reserved the area for various purposes such as a playground, parking, and HCMTR-Ring Road.

Prashant Jagtap, the Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Pune president, alleges that over the last 20 days, 15 hoardings were erected illegally in the reserved area by putting pressure and threats on ward office officers.

Despite the illegality of the situation, no action has been taken by the administration, leading to a public movement against the situation. The authorities of the PMC have been criticized for not taking any action against the various builders in the Market Yard area who are allegedly creating a flood situation by dumping debris. The public movement has warned that they will take the issue to court if necessary.

The agitation is being led by Jagtap, and several dignitaries and locals have joined the movement. Former Corporators Ratnaprabha Jagtap, Nanda Lonkar, Ashok Kamble, and Prafulla Jambhulkar, Kevin Manuel, Preeti Chadda, Mrinalinitai Vani, Sandeep Jagtap, Swati Chitnis, and Ganesh Naidu were present along with a large number of Wanowrie locals and society citizens.
