Pune Police Arrests People Who Filmed Video Of Rap Song At SPPU’s Premises, University Management Demands Strict Action
Pune, 14th April 2023: Action has been taken against those who filmed a rap video on the premises of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). The police took major action today (14th April) in connection with the filming of a rap song without permission in Saint Dnyaneshwar Auditorium, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Auditorium in the main building of the university.
Police have detained some of the youths who appeared in the video along with those who filmed it. The university administration complained to the police on Thursday (13th April) evening.
Sudhir Dalvi, Assistant Security Officer of the Security department of the university, has complained to the police in this matter. It was with his help that the police detained one from the hostel. After the complaint, the police immediately moved the source and started the process to arrest the culprits. By today afternoon, most of the culprits are believed to have been nabbed by the police.
The premises of the historic main building of the university was being used for unauthorized filming and it is seen that a sword, pistol, and liquor bottle were used in the video along with the use of obscene words.
The university had complained to the police as the said rap song created fear, spread terror, and defamed SPPU.
The police have started taking action against the concerned. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) objected to the rap that went viral on social media. They also protested in strong terms and demanded action against the culprits.
Dr Prafulla Pawar, Registrar, SPPU informed, “It has been noticed that some persons have created and filmed offensive rap songs using some footage from the premises of the main building of SPPU without permission and the said video has been posted on the social media platforms. Taking such offensive videos without the permission of the University is objectionable and serious. The University strongly condemns such acts. In this regard, the process of filing a case is going on in the police station and strict action will be taken against those concerned.”
