Pune: Raheja Vista Society Under Scanner For Non-Compliance And Lack Of Transparency, DDR Issues Showcause Notice
Kondhwa, 13th April 2023: The Deputy District Registrar (DDR) of the cooperative societies, Zone 4, has issued a show cause notice to the management committee of Raheja Vista Phase 4 T5 and T6 based in Mohammedwadi’s NIBM Annexe.
This notice was prompted by the grievance of Dr Zoher Harnesswala, a member of the society who was denied access to the details of the society’s expenditure, annual general body meetings, accounts, audit reports, etc.
The aggrieved member further alleged that the society was not holding elections even though the present ad hoc committee’s term was over. Seeking recourse to this grave injustice, Dr Zoher Harnesswala approached the Deputy District Registrar’s office, which subsequently issued the show cause notice to the society committee. The notice mandates that the committee respond to the allegations within 15 days.
As per the complaint, the society had not distributed the share certificates even after registration, and there had been no record of accounts as per the by-laws. Although the society was registered on January 1, 2020, there had been no elections held as per the by-laws, and the ad-hoc committee had been functioning solely for maintenance purposes.
Additionally, the annual general body meeting for the year 2022-23 was held on March 19, 2023, before the financial year ended, with information shared on March 6. The information provided was deemed incomplete and inaccurate by the complainant. The society has approved the approximate expenses for 2023-24 but has not shared any details of the accounts since the society’s formation. Transparency has been a pressing issue, with the society never showing any openness when questioned about documents related to expenses.
In response to the show cause notice, the management committee has assured the appropriate authorities that they will take necessary measures to address the allegations raised.
