Pune: 2700 Kilogram Rice Of Ration Shop Sold In Black Market, 3 Arrested In Khadak Police Raid

Pune, 12th April 2023: In a major crackdown on black market rice sellers, Khadak police station officials have seized a tempo and apprehended three people who were buying cheap grain from ration shops and then selling it at higher prices in Kedgaon.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the Khadak police caught the tempo loaded with sacks of rice near Rajiv Gandhi society in Kashewadi, Bhawani Peth.

The three accused, Javed Lalu Shaikh (35), Abbas Abdul Sarkawas (34), and Imran Abdul Shaikh (30), all residents of Kashewadi, Bhawani Peth, have been arrested. They were caught red-handed with 2,700 kilograms of rice, including 54 bags of 15 kilograms each. The police also seized the tempo used for transporting the illegal goods.

After detaining and interrogating the accused, the police learned that the rice was being taken for sale at Kedgaon. Based on a complaint from Mahesh Prakash Jadhav, Khadak Police Station has registered an FIR regarding the same.

The incident has brought to light the illegal practice of buying and selling rice meant for ration shops.

The Khadak police have intensified their efforts to catch the people involved in the illegal sale of rice. They have also warned the ration shop vendors against continuing with their illegal activities. The police have urged the public to report any such activities to them.
