Velhe, 8th April 2023: A tragic incident occurred on April 7th, in which a young software engineer lost his life while camping with colleagues at Aryavart Resort in Dhindhali in Velhe taluka of Pune district.

Mohit Hemant Saraf, a 30-year-old IT professional from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh, had come to Pune for a meeting held from April 3rd to April 7th at a company located in Baner.

After the meeting concluded at 3 pm on April 7th, a group of employees went camping at the resort in Dhindhali. Upon reaching the resort at 5:30 pm, everyone toured the area and then went to see the backwater of Panshet Dam. During this time, Mohit and the others walked knee-deep into the water of the dam. Unfortunately, Mohit slipped and fell into the deep water.

Nikhil Kishore Badgujar (24) of Bhosari, who was also in the water, managed to hold onto a stone and come up. Everyone formed a chain to remove Mohit from the water, but while they were trying to lift him, Anshul Kamal Ametha’s leg started slipping, causing everyone to come out of the water in fear. Mohit drowned in the deep water, and no one was able to save him.

Upon hearing about the incident, local villagers, resort staff, and the police immediately sought help from the District Disaster Management Authority. After a 14-hour search operation, Mohit’s body was found at 9 am today.

The police have launched an investigation, and Badgujar has filed a complaint at Velhe Police Station. Assistant Police Inspector Manoj Pawar, Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kadam of Panshet police station, Police Constable Pankaj Moghe, and Rajaram Hole are conducting further investigations.
