Pune Braces for Thunderstorm and Gusty Winds, IMD Issues Warning
Pune, 8th April 2023: According to the latest weather report, a Nowcast warning has been issued at 5 pm. Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and light rain is expected to occur at isolated places in Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Pune, Nandurbar, and Solapur districts of Maharashtra during the next 3-4 hours.
The weather conditions may lead to short period moderate to intense spells of rain with strong and gusty winds around 30-40 kmph.
Anupam Kashyapi, head of weather forecasting at IMD, Pune has advised people to take precautions while moving out. It is recommended to not take shelter under trees during thundery activity and avoid using mobile/unplug electronic appliances during periods of lightning. It is also suggested to close windows and doors during periods of strong wind and avoid traveling during the same time. If one has to drive, it is recommended to drive slow and safe as visibility may reduce and roads may become slippery.
