Bus Going From Tuljapur To Pune Overturned; One Dead While Thirty Injured
Daund, 8th April 2023: A private luxury bus traveling from Tuljapur to Pune on the Pune-Solapur National Highway overturned into a pit at Malad in Daund taluka on Saturday (8th April) around 6 am.
According to preliminary information, one woman devotee was killed, two to three others were in critical condition, and more than thirty devotees were injured, including old men, women, and children.
Around 55 to 60 devotees from Bhawanipeth, Lohianagar area of Pune city, went to Tuljapur and Yarmala by bus. While returning to Pune, the driver lost control of the bus near Ghagrevasti in the Malad area of Daund taluka at around 6 am on Saturday, and the bus overturned into a culvert between the main road and service road.
Local youth working on relief efforts said that a woman died on the spot, and twenty-five to thirty devotees were injured, with two to three of them in serious condition. The injured have been admitted to private hospitals at Daund and Bhigwan, taluka Indapur, for treatment.
At the accident site, women, men, youths, and children were slightly injured and were in a state of panic, inquiring about their relatives. Some were sitting unconscious on the service road. Devotees from Bhawanipeth Lohianagar and Vimannagar areas of Pune city were among those injured in the accident. All of them had gone to Tuljapur and Yarmala and were returning home to Pune after visiting God.
Many youths from the Malad area tried to help the devotees stuck in the bus. According to helpers at the scene, the bus driver had been drinking. Some passengers escaped through the bus’s windows and door, including a small child. As soon as the accident happened, youths like Dada More, Haridas Ghagare, Abhijit Dudhe, etc., helped passengers get out of the bus.
