Pune, 7th April 2023: The Registration and Stamps Department has introduced an online process for the registration of Deeds. However, this new process has not proved to be entirely efficient, and many people have found that their work cannot be completed until they visit the government office.

As a result, the online process has become very slow, and even after almost a month, registrations are not being completed.

A city resident registered for the Leave and License Agreement online on 3rd March. According to the rules, the agreement filed online must be registered within 48 hours. However, even after a week, it was not registered. Therefore, the said member sought help from the helpline of the Registration and Stamp Department, but the agreement was still not registered.

He finally lodged a complaint with the helpline, but even after 15 days, the agreement was still not recorded.

After inquiring through an advocate, the deed was located in Haveli No 26 for registration. Although there are 22 sub-registrar offices for registration in the Pune area, common citizens are not aware of this, and citizens should not have to suffer unnecessarily. A faceless facility has been started to avoid unnecessary crowds, but due to technical difficulties and the indifference of officials and employees, citizens still have to go to the office to apply for registration. Due to this, congestion in the registrar’s office is increasing.

Advocate Arjun Dalal said that enrollment is supposed to be a faceless process, but it does not seem to have materialized. He added that if registration has to be done by going to the actual office even after doing the online process, then it is better to go and register directly at the office without getting stuck in the hassle of online. Due to the many difficulties in the registration process, the government’s purpose is not being achieved, and this issue needs serious attention from the government level.
