Pune: Rs 30 Crore Allocated For Fort Conservation In District’s Annual Plan

Pune, 5th April 2023: The government has approved a fund of Rs 3.75 crore from the regional tourism scheme for the conservation of the Kalyan Darwaza and surrounding areas of Pune-Sinhgad fort. The Archaeological Department is scheduled to begin work at the end of April, according to District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh.

Deshmukh also stated that the conservation of ancient structures and forts in the district, as well as the development of historical and religious sites, will be given priority this financial year. This is expected to boost tourism and create employment opportunities in the district, with plans being made through the district’s annual plan.

The development plan for the Sinhgad Fort has been pending for several years, and the issue was raised during a District Planning Committee meeting. Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil promised to include ancient temples and forts in the district development plan of 2023-24 on a priority basis, in order to preserve and conserve them, and create infrastructure for devotees and tourists visiting these sites. Funds have been approved from the regional tourism plan accordingly.

This year, Rs 30 crore has been earmarked for the conservation of forts in the district from the District Annual Plan. The works are scheduled to be completed by the end of March next year, and the Assistant Director of the State Archaeology Department has been instructed to create a development plan. The tender process for works worth Rs 269.24 crore at the Sacrifice place of Swaraj Rakshak Dharamveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Tulapur, taluka Haveli, and Samadhi place Smarak at Vadhu Budruk, taluka Shirur has also begun.

In addition, the tender process for works worth Rs 109.57 crores has started under the Sri Kshetra Jejuri Development Plan. The development plan has begun with the tender for the conservation work of the main temple. After the approval of Shri Saint Jaganade Maharaj Development Works in Sadumbare, a plan of Rs 62.93 Crore has been submitted.
