Pune, 29th March: The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are seriously considering lifting the ban on construction within a 100-meter radius of Shaniwarwada. Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil assured that a meeting of the MLAs will soon be called to decide on sending a proposal to the Central Government to reconsider the law. Additionally, he informed that discussions are ongoing regarding the redevelopment of old Wadas, and a proper decision will be taken soon.

In 2010, the Central Government decided to impose a complete ban on construction within 100 meters of archaeological sites across the country, with construction allowed within 200 to 300 meters only with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Department of Archaeology. This resulted in a complete ban on construction within a hundred-meter radius of Shaniwarwada, Pataleswar, and Agakhan Palace, affecting thousands of property holders living nearby.

Guardian Minister Patil held a review meeting on various issues of the Municipal Corporation, which will be recommended to the Central Government. During the subsequent press conference, when asked about the ban on construction in the Shaniwarwada area and the issue of old Wadas, he said that it is a law of the Central Government and should be reconsidered. Discussions on how to proceed will be held and recommended to the Central Government.

Regarding the old Wadas in Peth, located in the central part of the city, Patil stated that the state government is discussing how to resolve the issue and that a decision will be taken soon.
