Vishrantwadi, 29th March 2023: Two persons have been arrested by the Vishrantwadi police station for allegedly using a dummy candidate to appear for a cook exam of the Ministry of Defence.

The accused have been identified as Dipu Kumar (23), a resident of Bihar, and Shailendra Singh (24), a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Mahendrasinh Rathi (42), a resident of Bhairavnagar, Dhanori, lodged a complaint regarding the incident.

The department in question is the Border Roads Organization (BRO), which is responsible for road construction in border areas under the Ministry of Defence. The department had announced vacancies for the position of cook, and the exam was scheduled to be held on March 28 at GREF Centre, Alandi Road. Shailendra Singh, an applicant from Uttar Pradesh, had applied for the exam, but he had conspired with Dipu Kumar to have him sit the exam on his behalf.

However, the invigilators became suspicious of Dipu Kumar, who had taken the exam with a hall ticket. After questioning him, Dipu Kumar confessed to sitting the exam as a dummy, while the original candidate was waiting outside. A complaint was then filed with the Vishrantwadi police station, and both Dipu Kumar and Shailendra Singh were subsequently arrested.
