Baramati, 26th March 2023: Baramati division of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has taken the lead in providing electricity connections to agricultural pumps in the last two years, and has provided a total of 61,794 electricity connections. The waiting list within 30 meters is almost over.

Therefore, farmers whose connection point is up to 30 meters from the existing electricity system should apply immediately and pay the quotation. Chief Engineer Sunil Pavde has instructed the engineers to provide connection to all such farmers by 31st March.

From April 2018 to March 2022, 69,983 farmers applied for the connection of farm pumps. To provide these additions, the Government of Maharashtra came up with ‘Agriculture Policy-2020’.

Accordingly, 33 per cent of the ‘Agricultural Contingency Fund’ collected in two years was available at the village level and 33 per cent of the fund was available at the district level. Out of it, the work of providing pending connections and empowering the power system was undertaken.

Sunil Pavde said that farmers whose connection within 30 meters is pending or who want to apply afresh should contact the nearest MSEDCL branch office. All these farmers will be given new connections immediately.

At present, 24 power substations have been taken up in Baramati circle from the Agricultural Contingency Fund. So, the capacity of the ultra-high pressure reactor in the sub-center has been increased. As a result, the load capacity of MSEDCL has increased and it has become possible to provide an uninterrupted power supply to farmers and provide new connections.
