Pune: Farmer Suffers Loss After Unknown Person Sets Fire To Sugarcane Field
Theur, 22nd March 2023: An unidentified person set fire to a sugarcane field in the Theur area on Pune-Solapur road, causing a loss of Rs. 1.5 lakh to a farmer.
The field had a drip irrigation system installed to water the sugarcane, which was also burnt in the fire. Sambhajirao Kunjir (73), a resident of Mukundnagar, Swargate, filed a complaint at Loni Kalbhor Police Station regarding the incident.
Kunjir owns a farm at Jadhav Vasti in the Theur area where he had planted sugarcane. After the sugarcane was sent to the sugar factory, the leftover waste was placed on Kunjir’s farm. The waste was reportedly set on fire by an unknown person in the middle of the night.
Police constable Jagtap is investigating the incident.
