Pune: Leopard Attacks Have Increased In Warje Area, Government Should Take Measures, Says MLA Siddharth Shirole
Warje, 20th March 2023: Leopards and other wild animals have increased in the Warje area. Taking cognizance of this, MLA Siddharth Shirole demanded that the government take measures in the Legislative Assembly today (20th March).
Shirole raised the issue of increased leopard presence in the Warje area through the point of information. This morning, there was fear among the citizens after a leopard was spotted in the New Ahire area near Warje. After two hours of intensive efforts, the Forest Department succeeded in catching it.
There is a national defence beacon at this place. Forest Department officials have speculated that the leopard might have entered the human settlement from the nearby forest. There have been incidents of leopards entering this area before. Speaking about it, Shirole demanded that the government take permanent measures to prevent such incidents from happening as leopards are frequently seen here.
