Pune, 15th March 2023: The draft of Shivajinagar ST station, which was demolished for Mahametro work, is not ready and that is why the new construction has stopped. The local authorities of both the Mahametro and ST Corporation departments have kept silent on the matter. There is no transport minister in the government and there is no coordination between the two departments, but passengers have had to bear the problem for more than two years.

Mahametro demolished Shivajinagar ST station which is very convenient for passengers as it is located in the central part of the city for its underground station. An agreement was signed between ST Corporation and Mahametro while demolishing it.

According to that agreement, Mahametro took one acre out of the four-acre land of the corporation for its office and other buildings. From the commercial value of this place, Mahametro has to construct a station and a basement under it for the corporation. Now the corporation is asking Mahametro to construct a basement, station, and commercial complex on it.

The underground station of Mahametro is now complete. According to the agreement, Mahametro is ready to construct the basement and station. However, as the plan of what to build is not ready, they have faced a problem.

The Corporation had decided to construct the above business complex on PPP (Public Private Partnership) basis. But it was decided that the ST Corporation would build this complex in the Mahavikas Aghadi government. Now there is no plan for the building and the underground station has been built.

The financial condition of ST corporation is poor. There is no money to pay the salaries of the employees, the question is where will they get it for the construction. Mahametro says that they are ready to do as much construction as it takes for one acre of land, but for that, they are asking for the plan for the new building.

Siddharth Shirole, MLA, Shivajinagar Assembly Constituency, said, “At least some movement has started in this regard after asking the question in the Assembly. Passengers have to face a lot of trouble to go to Wakdewadi or come from there to the city. We believe that a joint meeting between the ST Corporation and Mahametro officials will be scheduled soon and will find a solution in this regard.”
