Pune Collector To Review Work Of Chandni Chowk Flyover Today
Pune, 15th March 2023: The work of the flyover at NDA Chowk (Chandni Chowk) will be completed by the end of April. The flyover will be inaugurated on Maharashtra Day (1st May) by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh will review the work of the flyover on Wednesday (15th March).
Traffic from all parts of the Satara-Mumbai highway, Pashan, Bavdhan, and Mulshi converge at NDA Chowk. As there was only one bridge at this place, there were a lot of traffic jams. Therefore, it was decided to build a flyover at this place.
In August 2017, the groundbreaking ceremony of this project was done by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highway Nitin Gadkari. The bridge was expected to be completed in August 2021. However, the work got delayed due to various reasons like land acquisition, traffic at the intersection, and coronavirus. After that, a deadline of 31st January 2023 was given. After that, the work on this bridge is now planned to be completed by the end of April.
Gadkari recently reviewed the projects of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in the Pune district along with a bridge in NDA Chowk, Palkhi Route. In this background, Collector Dr Deshmukh will visit this place and review the work. Officials of the NHAI will be present on this occasion.
The bridge connecting the Pashan-NDA road was demolished in a controlled explosion at midnight on 2nd October 2022. After that, the foundation of the new bridge and now, the pillar construction work started. A total of eight different routes are proposed along with a new major bridge on the highway between Chandni Chowk, Pashan, and NDA road. Five of them have been completed. Another highway bridge, a flyover from Bavdhan to Satara, and a subway from Satara to Mulshi are still incomplete.
