Pune: Youth Seriously Injured After Jumping From Bund Garden Bridge

Yerwada, 27th January 2023: A young man has been seriously injured after jumping into the river from Bund garden Bridge in Yerwada. This incident happened on Friday (January 27) around 4.30 pm.

The injured man (24) hails from Anandwadi in Bhalki taluka of district Bidar, Karnataka. He has passed his BSc and came to Pune in search of a job.

The young man climbed the cliff and jumped into the riverbed when he came to the Bund garden bridge leading to Yerwada. But he fell on the cement block, fractured both his wrists, and hit his head.

Eyewitness Rohit Padle was at some distance from the young man. As soon as he realized that the youth had jumped, Padle called the police control room and informed them. After that, Sub-Inspector Bhagwan Gurav of Parnkuti Chowki under Yerwada police station, along with Vitthal Veer and Vetal, officials of Koregaon Park Police Station, reached the spot.

By that time, the ambulance also reached the spot immediately. They admitted the young man to Sassoon Hospital. The police recovered the Aadhaar card from the youth’s pocket. Also, they contacted his father from his mobile phone and informed him about the incident.

Eyewitness Rohit Padle had got a phone call and hence he stopped his bike on the side of the road while talking on his mobile phone. At that time, he noticed that a young man who was some distance away had jumped from the bridge into the river. Padle immediately called the police control room by dialing 100 number. Also, reported the incident to the 108 number for an ambulance.
