Pune: Six Members Of Gang Who Opened Fire In Koregaon Park Booked Under MCOCA
Pune, 13th January 2023: The police have taken action under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Ajay Kaluram Salunke, a goon from the gang who terrorized Koregaon Park by firing from a pistol.
Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr has raised the bar of strict action against the criminals, and this is the third action under MCOCA since he assumed charge as Commissioner.
A case has been registered against six persons under the Arms Act at Koregaon Park Police Station. Five of them have been arrested. Ajay Kaluram Salunke alias Dhar Ajay (23), Nitin alias Natta Mohan Mhaske (32), Santosh Siddharth Chavan (27), Ajay alias Sonya Girippa Dodamani (26), Nati alias Rohan alias Rushikesh Mohan Nigde (28), all are residents of Tadiwala Road, Pune. Meanwhile, another one is absconding.
According to the information given by the police, the accused beat up one person by firing in the air out of previous enmity. After that, an attempt was made to kill the person concerned by hitting a cement block on his head. This incident took place on 24th November last year in the parking lot of Gera Legend Society in Koregaon Park and in front of Yogi Park Society.
Ajay Salunke is the leader of the gang and has been booked in two serious cases of attempted murder and grievous hurt. Nitin alias Natta Mohan Mhaske has been booked in three cases of murder, attempt to murder, and grievous hurt. Two cases of robbery and assault have been registered against Rushikesh Nigde. Preventive action was taken against these accused. However, they continued to commit crimes by illegally possessing pistols.
Senior Inspector Vinayak Vetal, through Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil, submitted a proposal to file MCOCA against the accused in the registered crime. After investigating the matter, action was ordered against this gang as per MCOCA Act.
