Pune, 1st January 2023: Out of the passengers who arrived at various airports in Maharashtra from abroad, two more passengers from Pune and Mumbai have been found infected with Coronavirus. So this number has now increased to six.

Genome sequencing reports of samples from these six patients are pending. Passengers who arrived at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports between the 24th and 31st of December have been infected, and their genetic sequencing reports are awaited.

Given the increasing number of BF-7 patients abroad, a survey of international travellers coming to the state has been started from 24th December. Till 31st December, 1,16,666 passengers have arrived at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports, out of which 2,373 passengers have been RT-PCR tested. The number of passengers diagnosed with corona infection through this test has reached six, and their samples have been sent for genetic sequencing. Out of these, three passengers are from Pune, two from Navi Mumbai and one from Goa. After the genetic sequencing report, it will be clear which type of variant they are infected with.

State Epidemiological Survey Officer Dr Pradeep Awte said the number of active patients in the state is 164, so there is no reason to worry.
