Pune: Youth Pushed Into Water Tank And Killed On Suspicion Of Love Affair
Pune, 27th December 2022: A case was registered two years after a young man was murdered by being pushed into a water tank on suspicion of having a love affair.
The mother of the deceased had filed a private complaint in court regarding this. A case of murder was registered by the order of the court.
The deceased youth has been identified as Niranjan Mahadev Katkar (23), a resident of Sundarban Society, Fursungi. Niranjan’s mother, Aruna Mahadev Katkar (42), a resident of Sundarban Society, Fursungi, has lodged a complaint at Loni Kalbhor Police Station in this matter.
A case has been registered against Bibhishan Mane, Sanjay Harichandra Mane, Sachin Dagdu Khochre, Hanumant Ankush Kaldhane, a resident of Ganganagar, Fursungi, along with two women in this case.
On 3rd April 2021, Niranjan Katkar was found dead in the tank of the planned Swaraj Park housing project in the Fursungi area of Hadapsar. In the post-mortem report, the doctors stated that the death was due to drowning.
In this regard, a case of accidental death (AD) was reported at the Loni Kalbhor police station. The investigation was entrusted to Assistant Police Inspector Digambar Bidve and Sub Inspector Amrita Kate.
According to police, Niranjan had an affair with a young woman. For this reason, his mother suspected the accused killed him by drowning him in the water tank.
As police failed to nab the culprits, she filed a private complaint in the court. The mother had demanded that a case of murder be registered in this case.
After verifying the facts, the court issued an order under section 156 (3) of the CrPC directing the police to register a case of murder and conduct an investigation.
