Masks Made Compulsory In Karnataka For Closed Spaces, AC Rooms
Bengaluru, 23rd December 2022: The state government of Karnataka said on Thursday that face masks may soon become a must in closed spaces and air-conditioned rooms also. This is being done as a precaution in view of rising Covis cases in certain countries like China, Japan, etc.
“We are going to issue an advisory to wear masks in indoor locations, closed spaces and air-conditioned rooms. Also, there will be mandatory testing of ILI and SARI cases across Karnataka,” state Health Minister Dr Sudhakar said to reporters after a meeting led by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on COVID-19.
Dr Sudhakar said that it was also decided to open dedicated Covid wards in all district hospitals with sufficient beds and a supply of Oxygen. According to him, about 2,000-3,000 people were being tested for COVID-19 daily in the state.
The government will also work with private hospitals and super speciality hospitals to reserve beds for treating Covid patients similar to the setup seen during the peak of COVID a year ago.
The government has also informed that COVID-19 tests will be made mandatory for people with Influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI).
Recently the state decided to randomly check international flyers at the Bengaluru airport.
