Academic Bank of Credits To Be Included In Four-Year UG Programme; Check Details Here
New Delhi, 15th December 2022: On Monday (December 12), the Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) framework, which allows students to repeatedly leave, return to, or change colleges while pursuing their undergraduate degrees, was announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
A central Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) will keep track of all the credits each student acquired throughout their undergraduate career as part of this process.
According to Vikas Rastogi, Principal Secretary for Higher Education, the Government of India will maintain all the technical infrastructure necessary for this procedure and make it freely available to all higher education institutions.
He said, “The ABC portal is already registered with every university. The creation of students’ “ABC IDs” is underway.”
All students must enroll with the Academic Bank of Credits before the FYUP is implemented by providing their personal information, such as their Aadhar number. The universities in Maharashtra have put in place several efforts to motivate students to finish their ABC registrations.
A representative of Maharashtra’s NEP committee said, “To get students on board with the ABC, we had numerous universities throughout the state create video lessons and circulars. To provide every student a chance to participate in this project, certain universities are also providing all essential digital infrastructure.”
From the academic year 2023–2024, all colleges and universities in Maharashtra will implement the FYUP across all programs.
