Pune: Notice Sent To Cab Services To Shift Base To Aeromall For Airport Pick-Ups

Pune, 11th December 2022: Keeping in view the traffic congestion in the Pune airport area, the existing Ola-Uber cab booking counter will soon be shifted to the newly constructed Aeromall. The move will reduce the congestion of cabs at Pune airport. Ola and Uber cab drivers are causing major traffic jams in the Pune airport area.

The Pune airport administration issued notices to the heads of Ola and Uber to immediately shift their pick-up counters and other services to the new Aeromall. Once the cabs here are shifted to the new Aeromall, the congestion in the airport area will reduce drastically.

There used to be long queues of Ola and Uber cab drivers from the pick-up counter inside the airport to the entrance and the main roads outside. If the passengers booked a cab, they had to wait 10 to 15 minutes to get it and often cancelled the booking. Due to the lack of space here, traffic jams and passenger-crowds increased.

Passengers will now be able to board their cabs directly from the newly constructed over-bridge after leaving the airport. The facility of electric four-wheeler vehicles has also been provided for the passengers on this bridge.

The second floor of the newly constructed Aeromall parking lot, by the Pune Airport Authority, has been given as a pick-up point for Ola and Uber. At present, discussions are going on between the Aeromall administration and Ola and Uber administrations after receiving the notice regarding relocation.

The four-storey ‘multilevel parking’ will also be used by the airport administration on a commercial basis. Along with parking on each floor, there are food stalls and some private offices. The airport administration will receive added revenue from this parking.

This four-storey parking lot will also have parking facilities for Ola and Uber vehicles. Passengers can book a taxi directly from here. Along with this, passengers can park their two-wheelers and four-wheelers at an hourly rate in this parking lot. Its rates will be decided by the government, said the airport administration.

Daily passenger numbers at the airport are 23 to 25 thousand. Daily flights at the airport are about 80 to 85.
