Maharashtra Police officers celebrate Diwali with martyr families

Pune : This year’s Diwali was unique for the family members of the martyred jawans from Army, paramilitary forces and the police as  they had visitors from men in Khaki.

It was the brainchild of versatile and dynamic IPS officer Vishwas Nangre Patil who is currently posted as IG of Kolhapur range, which covers the Western Maharashtra.

Patil on his Facebook post stated, “We officers from kolhapur range decided not to visit each other to greet on the occasion of diwali this year. Instead appealed to all the officers to visit the families of martyrs from army, paramilitary and our police dept who sacrificed their lives on duty and greet them with a small token of gratitude.. My officers responded positively and visited the families living in remote villages in uniform on diwali days whose son or father died while fighting the antisocial elements, the goons, naxalites or terrorists. The families were in tears when my personnel met them and in return the families gave them warm reception and insisted to eat diwali sweets with them. The garlanded photos of gallant heroes were witnessing this happiness and satisfaction of their families. May be everyone of us do whatever small we can to make these families feel that we are with them in thick and thin. Salute to the martyrs”
