Pune: 19 Areas Viewed As Life-Threatening Due To Continuous Accidents

Pune, 2nd December 2022: 19 places in Pune have been deemed as life-threatening. Most accidents in the city have occurred on Nagar Road, Katraj, Mumbai-Bangalore Bypass, and Hadapsar. Till the end of November, 293 people have died in accidents in different parts of the city. The number of deaths of two-wheeler riders in accidents in different parts of the city is increasing.

 

There are accident-prone places (blackspots) in 19 areas of the city. Accidents occur regularly in these areas. There is a need to improve traffic in the areas to prevent accidents. From time to time, the traffic police have corresponded with the officials of the Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department and National Highway Authority regarding traffic-related measures and improvements. Nine serious accidents have taken place at the Navale Bridge area on the Mumbai-Bangalore bypass in the past week. It has been decided to prepare a long-term action plan for the traffic police, district administration, and National Highway Authority to prevent accidents in this area.

Many accidents occur at Hadapsar-Saswad Road, Sancheti Chowk in Shivajinagar Area, Mai Mangeshkar Hospital in Warje Area, Mutha River Bridge in Warje Area, Dukkar Khind, Khadi Machine Chowk in Katraj-Kondhwa Road, Sangamwadi Parking in Yerwada Area, Railway Bridge in Mundhwa, Bhumkar Chowk on Sinhagad Road, Navale Bridge, Nagar Road, Tata Garden Chowk, Wagholi, 509 Chowk in Lohegaon area, Kharadi Jakat Naka on Nagar Road, Katraj Chowk, New Katraj Tunnel on Outer Ring Road, and Dari Bridge.

 

Serious accidents happen on the Pune-Solapur road and Pune-Nagar road. Till the end of November this year, 43 accidents have occurred on Solapur road. 46 people have died in accidents on Solapur road. 31 accidents have occurred in Wagholi, Lonikand area on the city road, and 31 people have died in accidents on the city road. Katraj Bhag, Mumbai-Bangalore Bypass has a high number of accidents.
