Pune: One Arrested By Police For Extorting Rs 5 Lakh By Pretending To Be Policeman

Pune, 25th November 2022: A team of Assistant Commissioner of Police Unit two arrested a fake policeman who extorted Rs five lakh from one and was threatening to get involved in various cases if the said amount was not paid. The arrested person has been identified as Madhukar Vilas Saple, a resident of Jambhulwadi Road, Ambegaon, and a native of Belgaum Karnataka.

 

There was an incident of extortion of Rs five lakh from a person living in the Vimannagar area. Assistant Commissioner of Police Narayan Shirgaonkar was investigating the matter. During interrogation, the accused Madhukar Saple pretended to be a policeman and threatened to implicate the complainant in the crime.

He falsely said that a case under POCSO was registered against him at Akola. He prepared a forged letter signed by the Deputy Registrar of Co-operative Society, Pune to cancel the election of the society he was residing in Pune. Rs 5.05 lakh was extorted from the complainant online by making different threats.

 

As the crime was discovered, the team arrested the accused. The operation was carried out by a team of Sub-Inspectors Shankar Patil, Sudhir Ingle, Rahul Sakat, and Amol Wadkar under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Joint Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner Ramnath Pokle, Deputy Commissioner Amol Zende, Assistant Police Commissioner Narayan Shirgaonkar.
