IND vs NZ 2nd T20I: India Wins With Surya’s century, Defeats New Zealand By 65 runs

New Zealand, 20th November 2022: India defeated New Zealand by 65 runs in the second match of the three-match series. New Zealand had a target of 192 runs to win, but the team could only manage 126 runs.

 

 

 

For New Zealand, captain Kane Williamson scored the highest innings of 61 runs. Apart from him, no batsman could stand in front of Indian bowling. Deepak Hooda took four wickets from India. Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammad Siraj took two wickets each. With this victory, India has taken a one-zero lead in the three-match series.

 

 

 

Chasing the target of 192 runs, no batsman could last long except captain Kane Williamson for New Zealand. He played an inning of 61 runs. Apart from Williamson, Devon Conway played an inning of 25 runs.

 

 

 

Batting first after losing the toss, India scored 191 runs in front of New Zealand based on Suryakumar Yadav’s blistering 111-run innings. Surya completed his century off only 49 balls. He became the second Indian batsman to score two T20 hundreds in a year. Earlier, this feat was achieved by Rohit Sharma. Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, Ishaan Kishan played an inning of 36 runs.

 

 

 

New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee took a hat-trick in the 20th over of India’s innings. He dismissed Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar on the third, fourth and fifth balls of the 20th over. He has become the second bowler after Lasith Malinga to take two hat-tricks in T20Is.

 

 

 

The third and last match of this series will be played in Napier on 22 November. The first T20 match of the series was cancelled due to rain.
