Pune: Seven Accused Arrested In Rs 28 Lakh Robbery Case

Pune, 14th November 2022: The Anti-Extortion Squad of Pune city police has arrested the robbers who opened fire at the office of the courier (Angadiya) company in Market Yard and looted cash worth Rs 27.45 lakhs. Cash of Rs 11.18 lakh, seven mobile sets, three two-wheelers, and crossbows worth Rs 13.43 lakh were seized from the robbers.

 

The incident took place on Saturday (November 12).

 

In this case, Avinash alias Sunny Rampratap Gupta (20), a resident of Mangalwar Peth, Aditya Ashok Marne (28), a resident of Ramnagar, Warje, Deepak Omprakash Sharma (19), a resident of Rahulnagar, Shivane, Vishal Satish Kasbe (20), a resident of Mangalwar Peth, Gurujan Singh Seva Singh Virak (20), a resident of Shivajinagar, Nilesh Balu Gothe (20), a resident of Mangalwar Peth were arrested in the case.

 

The accused entered the office of the PM courier company in the Bhusar Bazar area in Market Yard on Saturday. The accused threatened the employees of the courier company and looted Rs 27.45 lakh cash after shooting on the ground with a pistol.

 

 

After this incident, the Anti-Extortion Squad of the crime branch was tracking the accused. The Warje police had taken action against the accused Gupta under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). MCOCA action was taken against the accused Marne who was in jail after the operation. Marne was released from jail after getting bail from the court.

 

Gupta, Marne and accomplices have a criminal background. The Anti-Extortion Squad received information about the robbery of the courier company by Gupta and his accomplices.

 

The footage taken by the CCTV cameras was verified by the police. Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said while talking to reporters that the police team laid a trap and caught Gupta and his accomplices.

 

Accused Gupta, Marne and accomplices got to know each other in jail. The Courier company office has a huge amount of cash. Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta informed that Gupta and Marne conspired with their accomplices to loot the money from the courier company in the jail earlier this year.

 

“They believed that the Angadiya company will not report the robbery as they deal in cash. However, it is a misconception”, the commissioner added.

 

Additional Commissioner Ramnath Pokle, DCP Srinivas Ghadge, ACP Gajanan Tompe supervised the investigation team. It included Senior Police Inspector Ajay Waghmare, Police Sub-Inspector Vikas Jadhav, and Yashwant Ombase, Madhukar Tupsaunder, Sayaji Chavan, Pramod Sonwane, Sanjay Bhapkar, Hema Dhebe, Nitin Kamble, Kiran Thaware, Duryodhan Gurav , Amol Awad, Rajendra Landge, Vijay Kamble, Prapualla Chavan and Sambhaji Gangawane.
