Pune: Two Kushal CREDAI trainees to represent India in the World Skills Competition

Pune, 29th October 2022: With an aim to showcase Indian construction skills on the global stage, two trainees from Kushal CREDAI, Pune will represent India at the upcoming World Skills Competition to be held in Italy and Austria. The national Gold medal winners- Monish Kamal from Odisha and Sanjiv Kumar Sabavath representing Maharashtra at the World Skills Competition were felicitated during a send off program organized by Kushal CREDAI and Rotary Club of Riverside at AISSMS College.

 

Receiving training under the aegis of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDCI), Sanjiv Kumar will participate in ‘Wall and Floor Tiling’ Skill along with experts J.P. Shroff and Milind Talathi to be held in Italy November 1, while Monish Kamal along with Construction Skills expert Paallavi Kothari will represent India in ‘Brick Laying’ competition to be held in Austria on November 20 .

 

On par with the Olympics, the World Skills is held every two years and showcases a variety of skills from around the world.

 

 

Steering Committee Members of Kushal CREDAI and Labour Welfare Committee Members including J.P. Shroff, Chairman, Milind Talathi, Sameer Belvalkar, Parag Patil, Dr. D.K..Abhyankar and Urmila Julka among others were present during the event.

 

J.P. Shroff said, “Kushal CREDAI has strived to create world champions by imparting training to workers in various construction skills in line with the motto ‘Empowerment of the nation in the field of construction skills’. This year we have completed about 30 skill competitions and have received 2 Silver, 3 Bronze and 11 ‘Medallion of Excellence’. This year also two trainees will be participating in the World Skills competition, for which they have been training for the last 1.5 years.”

 

Sanjiv Kumar Sabavath said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to represent India at World Skills and it took me six years to reach here. For that, the entire credit goes to the Kushal team who helped me achieve my goals.”

 

Monish Kamal said, “A student from my university had participated in the World Skills competition and won a medal, following him I too wanted to participate in it. Initially, I was confused about the skills I wanted to choose but being a civil engineer I chose Bricklaying. I went with the flow and with hard work got selected for the competition. Now I want to win a medal for India.”
