Pune, 20th October 2022: The Pune Municipal Corporation has sent a letter to the traffic police reminding them of their duty to take action against rickshaws parked indiscriminately on busy roads and vehicles stopped in no parking areas. The letter also mentions heavy traffic in the city and rickshaw pullers carrying illegal passengers.

Parking is being done arbitrarily even when there is a ban in the city. Therefore, the traffic jams are increasing. Therefore, the disaster management of the municipal corporation demands that the traffic police should take action against the concerned people. Potholes on city roads, continuous heavy rains and metro work in the city for the past few weeks have resulted in the collapse of the transport system. The roads have been sieved, and there are huge obstacles in the traffic due to encroachments on the sidewalks and roads. In it, the police who are responsible for traffic regulation have disappeared.

In many places in the city, traffic jams are constantly occurring in the central areas and even at odd spaces. It has been observed in the inspection that the traffic problem is being created as buses and rickshaws are also not stopping at the right place.

According to Sachin Ethape, Deputy Commissioner of the Disaster Management Department, a letter has been given to the deputy commissioner of traffic police. The letter states that the traffic police should stop heavy vehicles on the prohibited roads and take appropriate action to ensure that buses and rickshaws stop at the appropriate areas.
