Pune: School Bus With 44 Students Falls Into Valley; No Casualties Reported

Pune, 27th September 2022: A school bus of Muktai Prashala Pimpalgaon Tarfe Ghoda in Ambegaon taluka has fallen into a valley at Mauje Girvali.

The school students and teachers were going to see Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCCA) telescope when the bus fell into the valley. At the time of the accident, there were 44 students and three teachers on the bus.

According to officials, 21 students have reached their homes while others are admitted in hospitals:

1. Sainath Hospital Bhosari – 4
2. At home – 21
3. Sub-District Hospital Manchar-7
4. Rural Hospital Ghodegaon – 9
5. Siddhi Hospital – 2
6. Dongre Hospital – 1

Pune Zilla Parishad CEO Ayush Prasad and District Health Officer Dr Bhagwan Pawar visited Sai Nath Hospital, Bhosari to meet the doctors and the guardians of the children.

“One child has undergone surgery and is stable. The child is on a ventilator and is recovering in an ICU. Two children have a spinal injuries. We spoke to the parents and assured them of all help from District Administration”, Prasad said.

He added, “The hospital has all necessary facilities such as MRI, qualified doctors, blood medicines etc. They have been providing the best treatment and have assured us to continue to do so. They specialise in trauma care. We have assured them that we shall provide any assistance if they need it at any time.

The specialist Doctors and surgeons appreciated the service rendered by Health Department’s 108 Emergency Services for appropriate triaging, declaring a code yellow, steps taken to stabilise the patient and bringing the patient in time. The patients were accompanied by a trained emergency medicine doctor in the ambulance. The hospital could conduct life-saving operation within 20 minutes of the patient being brought before them.”
