Pune: Officer Dies By Suicide Due To Money Dispute, Four Arrested In Case

Pune, 21st September 2022: An officer of the Cooperative Department died by suicide due to a struggle to return the money borrowed on interest. The Faraskhana police have arrested four people in this case and a case has been registered against the three.

The deceased officer has been identified as Ganesh Shankar Shinde (52), a resident of Balaji Heights, Mangalwar Peth. Shinde is an officer in the Cooperative Department. Vijay Soni, Balkrishna Kshirsagar, Ganesh Salunkhe, and Manish Hazra have been arrested for inciting him to die.

A case has been registered against Vijay Soni’s father, Pandharkar, Shankar Laxman Gaikwad. Shinde’s wife Shobhana (47) has lodged a complaint regarding the same at the Faraskhana police station.

Ganesh Shinde knew Soni, Kshirsagar, Salunkhe, Hazra, and Pandharkar. Reportedly, Shinde had taken a loan of Rs 84 lakh 50 thousand from the accused with interest. The accused started harassing Shinde for interest money.

Pandharkar had lured Shinde to sanction a loan of Rs 1 crore. Shinde had given money to Pandharkar for loan approval. Meanwhile, Pandharkar’s refusal to approve the loan shocked Shinde.

Shinde’s wife Shobhana has said in the complaint that he died suicide by hanging himself. The note written by Shinde before his death has been seized and Assistant Police Inspector Manoj Abhang is investigating the case further.
