Pune, 13th September 2022: The Chandani Chowk bridge at Chandani Chowk on the Pune-Bangalore Highway has been closed for traffic since Tuesday (13th September). This bridge will soon be demolished as new roads are being constructed to ease the traffic congestion in the area. For this, the traffic routes in the area have been changed on an experimental basis.

Union Roads and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari inspected the road work in the Chandani Chowk area and said that the bridge, that is obstructing traffic, will be demolished. As the traffic on this bridge has been closed from today, travellers will have to take a 1.5-kilometre detour from Kothrud or Satara road to go to Pashan, Bavdhan and get down on the highway from Mulshi towards Satara. From there, by turning left, vehicles can go to Bavdhan, Pashan.

It is planned to demolish the bridge in the early hours of 18th September, and necessary preparations are being made for that purpose. Like Twin Tower in Delhi, this bridge will be demolished, and the same company which demolished the said tower has been given the contract to demolish this bridge. Therefore, in just nine to ten seconds, the bridge will be seen to be grounded.
