Pune, 13th September 2022: Heavy rain is continuing in all four dams of the Khadakwasla Dam Chain Project. Khadakwasala and Panshet dams are at full capacity. There is an increase in the amount of rainfall and inflow of water in the dam area. As a result, the Water Resources Department has expressed the high possibility of increasing discharge in the river bed in the next two hours.

40 mm rain in Temghar dam, 20 mm rain in Varasgaon dam area, and 18 mm rain recorded in Panshet dam area from Monday (September 12) night to Tuesday (September 13) morning.

It has been raining heavily in the area of ​​all four dams since Tuesday morning. Therefore, water is being released from the Khadakwasla dam into the Mutha river in 1929 cusecs. After 11.00 am this discharge will be increased to 3424 cusecs. Therefore, citizens should not enter the river bed, if there are any animals in the river bed, they should be moved immediately.

Y S Bhandalkar, Assistant Engineer of Khadakwasla, Panshet and Varasgaon projects said that the concerned citizens of the low-lying areas should be informed and proper action should be taken.
