Young Man From Maharashtra Receives “Point Of The Light” Award By British Government For Cleaning River And Riverbank

Pune, 26th July 2022: Vivek Gurav, a young man from Pune who cleans the banks of the river, has received the award “Point of the Light” by the British Government. Gurav is from Jaisingpur near Kolhapur. He came to Pune for education. Seeing the bad condition of the Indrayani river in Alandi, he decided to clean the river and riverbank.

 

Vivek along with some of his friends cleaned the river area on Saturday and Sunday. After the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, awareness of cleanliness has been created among the citizens and many new hands have joined Vivek.

 

After completing his education, Vivek got a job in an IT company. He quit his job and decided to work full-time in the field of environment after realizing that he was neglecting the cleanliness drive while working.

 

He then got admission to Bristol University in England. There he began to clean the banks of the river at Bristol. The cleanliness drive set up by Vivek also became popular in England. Approximately 12000 people have participated as volunteers in the campaign.
