Pune: Yerwada Central Jail Prisoner Found Hanging On Prison Premises, Police Suspect Suicide
Yerwada, 8th July 2022: A 31-year-old inmate of Yerwada Central Jail allegedly died by suicide by hanging from a tree on the prison campus.
The deceased has been identified as Sachin Madhukar Narwade, a resident of Shikrapur, who hailed from Jalna district.
On June 2, Narwade strangled his wife to death in Bajrangwadi in Shikrapur area on suspicion of adultery. He was arrested by Shikrapur police in the case. He was later remanded in judicial custody and sent to Yerawada Jail by a court order.
The detainees were released on Thursday (July 7) at around 3 pm. Half an hour later the prisoners were counted. Sachin was found missing at the time.
According to police, he was found hanging from a tree in barrack number two area by tying a sheet.
Police sub inspector Ashok Kate is further investigating the case.
