Sarfaraz Khan Top Scorer In Ranji Trophy with 982 runs

Mumbai, 26th June 2022: Madhya Pradesh won their first Ranji Trophy title by defeating the 41-time champions Mumbai by six wickets in the final match of Ranji Trophy 2021-22. Mumbai had set a target of 108 runs for victory in front of MP on the last day, which the team easily achieved and created history.

Five players contributed significantly to this victory for Madhya Pradesh. Despite the defeat, two players from Mumbai managed to grab the headlines.

The players who rocked the finals of the Ranji Trophy were Yash Dubey (133), Shubham Sharma (116) and Rajat Patidar (122), who scored centuries in the first innings for Madhya Pradesh and played a key role in the team’s victory. These centuries helped MP get a 162-run lead over Mumbai taking the first step towards the trophy.

Madhya Pradesh had beaten Mumbai’s spirits with the lead in the first innings as well. At the same time, Gaurav Yadav in the first innings against Mumbai and Kumar Karthikeya in the second innings contributed significantly to Madhya Pradesh’s victory by taking 4-4 wickets to restrict Mumbai’s batsmen limited scores. These two players from Mumbai won hearts in the entire tournament

Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan topped the list of highest run-scorers in this season of Ranji Trophy with 982 runs. Sarfaraz scored 134 runs in the first innings against Madhya Pradesh and 45 runs in the second innings. He was the team’s top scorer both times. Sarfaraz was also awarded the Man of the Tournament award for his excellent performance.

While Shams Mulani wreaked havoc in the bowling, the Mumbai bowler topped the list of highest wicket-takers this season with 45 wickets. In the final, Mulani troubled the batsmen of Madhya Pradesh with his fiery bowling taking 5 wickets in the first innings and three wickets in the second innings. Sarfaraz and Mulani performed brilliantly throughout the tournament as well as gave their best for the team to win the final. However, Sarfaraz’s Madhya Pradesh got the victory.
