Football: Murhari steers UPSA to victory, Parshuramians ‘B’ struggle to win
Pune, 28 May 2022: United Poona Sports Club (UPSA) had Murhari Rathod to thank as he singlehandedly helped his team to a 3-0 win over Sunny Days in a Second Division encounter of the Poona District Football Association (PDFA) League 2021-22, here on Friday.
At the SSPMS ground, UPSA completed their Pool-A win with Murhari (22nd; 32nd; 30+2nd) scoring the first half and earn full points for his team.
Later, F.C Beckdinho won 2-1 against Diego Juniors with a last-ditch injury time effort by Saurabh Patil. All goals were scored in the second half, Siddharth Chavan (31st) and Saurabh Patil (60+1st) accounting for F.C Beckdonho and Agkstta P (25th) scoring for Diego Juniors.
At SP College, home side Parshuramians ‘B’ scored a hard-fought 2-1 Akhil Bhusari Colony (ABC) in Pool-A. The winners opened through Sarang Datar (11th) and struck the match winner through Jinshu Nair (47th). Timothy Kamei (38th) pulled one back for ABC.
In the same pool, Nav Maharashtra won a 6-goal thriller against Highlander F.C with the final score reading 4-2. A brace by Pankaj Bhosale (5th, 16th) and a goal each by Deepak Sakhare (15th) and Umesh Padumale (34th) accounted for Nav Maharashtra goals. Ayush Dhiwar (11th) and Neel Gawande (60th) scored to keep Highlanders F.C in the game for a while.
