Pune-based Pushpa Hegde elected as Vice President of ICW
Pune, 27th May 2022: Pune-based Pushpa Hegde has been elected as the Vice President of International Council for Women (ICW). Hegde, who will be the Vice President with the highest number of votes, has been associated with ICW since the past 25 years where she has worked as an Advisor, Coordinator, Asia Pacific Chairperson and has also held the post of Board Member for the organization.
ICW, a 130 year organisation with its headquarters in Paris with affiliation across 67 countries, works closely with the United Nations on issues of health, welfare, peace, equality, education, environment, migration, violence, discrimination, trafficking, poverty and the rights of women, children, refugees and minorities.
Pushpa Hegde’s tenure as a Vice President will be for 3 years from 2022 to 2025 and her main objective will be to work for the education, health and nutrition related issues of women and children. Currently she is also serving as the Trustee for Parijat Foundation, Mahila Seva Mandal and National Council for Women in India. At present, she is also the Chairperson of Poona Women Council School Board.
Along with her, Rakhi Shetty from Pune, current NCWI President and Managing Committee Member of Mahila Seva Mandal has been elected into the ICW Standing Committee as Coordinator for General Well-Being, while Nita Akre from Shimla has been elected as Advisor for Rural and Urban Women.
