Pune: Two Child Marriages Prevented In Junnar Taluka

Pune, 11th May 2022: The district administration has succeeded in preventing two child marriages from taking place in Vadaj village in Junnar taluka of Pune district, Maharashtra, on Tuesday (May 10).

After receiving information about this from Child Line, with the help of Junnar police station (Pune rural police) and under the guidance of District Woman and Child Development Officer, Pune, Taluka level protection officer AK Salunkhe, Taluka Level Child Marriage Prevention Officer ND Kolhe reached the wedding venue.

It was observed that marriages of two girls were taking place in the same tent in the presence of more than 500 people.

 

Police stopped the marriage before the ceremonies took place. The parents of both the boys and girls have given a written statement that they would not marry their daughters till they turn 18.

Junnar police inspector Vikas Jadhav, sub-inspector Pawar, taluka level protection officer Salunkhe succeeded in preventing child marriage of girls through the joint efforts of Child Marriage Prevention Officer and Gramsevak Gram Panchayat Vadaj ND Kolhe, Police Patil Vandana Shelke and other police personnel.
