Oracle University to expand range of courses under Workforce Development Programme

Pune, 18 July 2016: Oracle University, the competency and skill development arm of Information technology major Oracle Corporation, has plans to expand the range of training programmes it offers in its Workforce Development Programme (WDP) which aims at equipping students and professionals in Oracle technologies and improve their employability and career advancement opportunities.

Mr. Jose Koshy, Country Director for Oracle University in India, said that the expansion of range of courses offered under WDP will help Oracle’s major customers which include India’s IT giants such as Infosys to find a wider base of professionals equipped to work on Oracle technologies.

Mr Koshy was addressing the media on the occasion of announcing Oracle’s partner tie up with Pune based Seed Infotech for Oracle Student Learning Subscriptions; a digital learning experience for students in India who are passionate about learning IT and wants to build a career in IT.

Mr Koshy said Oracle University has in its portfolio 652 courses directed at learners at various levels. With the entire IT education and training landscape moving to cloud based delivery more and more courses and modules can be offered in the digital classroom format, Mr Koshy said. Oracle will harness the network of its 118 partners under the WDP to introduce these programmes, he said adding that training programmes for enterprise software too will eventually come under the Learning Subscription model.

Oracle’s partnership with Seed Infotech covers training through in Java, Advanced Java, SQL and Database 12C. Seed Infotech will offer the courses through Oracle Student Learning Subscriptions in its 30 training centres across India. These programmes will be of six months’ duration including online and classroom method and a student will be able to access the course content on a 24 X 7 basis with guidance of Oracle’s international experts if necessary.

“The availability of Oracle Student Learning Subscription will be beneficial for our students, as they prepare their careers in IT. Oracle’s training curriculum and learning methodologies are in-depth, practical, student and industry oriented,” said Shrikant Rasane, Co-Founder & Director of Seed Infotech Limited.  He said Seed is planning to reach 10000 students in the first year under Oracle Student Learning Subscription.

Depending upon the modules a student chooses to learn the fees would range between Rs 10,000 and Rs 50000 for a four-week programme, Mr Rasane said. The course comprises classroom training, online learning and certification, he said.
