Pune, 24th March 2022: Putting speculations to rest, Pune MP Girish Bapat today said that Pune International Airport will not shift to Purandar or Baramati. It will remain at its current location and 100 acres more land will be acquired for further expansion here.

Bapat was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of airport advisory committee meeting. Bapat, who is chairman of the committee, said that airport will remain in Pune city and not go to any far away place.

He further informed that soon 100 flights will take off and land at the airport. The current capacity of 70 lakh passengers per annum will be increased to 190 lakh per annum.

The previous Maharashtra State Government led by Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP had pushed hard for the international airport in Purandar.
