Pune, 25th February 2022: On March 6, activists from the Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Congress will conduct a demonstration against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to local officials. The three parties are members of Maharashtra’s ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition.

The protest will be held in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in Parliament accusing the Maharashtra government of spreading the coronavirus, according to the leaders. The announcement was made here by Pune city NCP chief Prashant Jagtap and his Congress counterpart Ramesh Bagwe.

“To win votes in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Prime Minister Modi made remarks in the Lok Sabha suggesting that Maharashtra spread COVID-19 in other states. This was an insult to the state. Therefore, as Modi is likely to come to Pune on March 6, the three parties will stage ‘Go Back Modi’ agitation,” the NCP leader said.

The prime minister is likely to visit Pune on March 6 to inaugurate the Metro train service, but no formal announcement has been made on his itinerary.

“The agitation will be held at all major chowks in the city and protesters will wear black clothes”, Jagtap said.
