Pimpri, 20th January 2022: Shiv Sena group leader Rahul Kalate has raised a question, “Aundh Ravet BRT Road is in good condition then why waste money?”

Kalate, NCP’s city working president Prashant Shitole, along with journalists, inspected the route.

Kalate said “The construction of this road was planned for the next 25 years for Rs 200 crores. Now, why is PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil planning to spend Rs 100 crore in the name of beautification?”

In this Sangvi Phata to Kaverinagar Road, Dange Chowk to Tathawade road, and Aundh to Ravet roads will be paved and beautified by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Out of this, the process of giving work of Rs 40 crore directly is underway.

Kalate further added, “This road has no potholes. Why waste Rs 100 crore on this road when there is no demand, whether the administration is collecting election funds from the authorities through this work, why and for whom the municipal corporation is wasting crores on this road”.

To develop the road from Sangvi Phata to Kaverinagar Subway as per Urban Street design (Rs. 14,74,63,604), from Dange Chowk to Tathwade Chowk (Rs. 16,27,27,474), and to pave Aundh to Ravet road, to level the chamber (Rs. 30 crores 96 lakh 46 thousand 112) and about Rs. 62 crore will be spent on such works. It has been approved by the standing committee and the work order of Rs. 30 crores has also been given by the commissioner. The work worth Rs. 40 crore is to be granted directly to the contractor of Smart City.

Shiv Sena group leader Rahul Kalate said that the process was in its final stage and it was stopped due to their opposition. “Rs. 100 crore is a huge amount. Therefore, it will be spent in four phases. There is no need to work on these roads. Even so, the people’s tax of Rs. 100 crore is being wasted unnecessarily. While doing this, some officials also misled the commissioner”, Kalate alleged that the government was doing under pressure and raising election funds.

Kalate further raised questions asking, “The road will be narrowed after it is developed according to the Urban Street design. As a result, traffic congestion is expected to increase. According to which rules work of Rs. 40 crore is being given. This should be disclosed by the administration and the commissioner should stop this work. Despite the demand of the commissioner, no time has been given for a hearing on this particular case”.

Kalate also warned the state government to go to court in due course if the commissioner does not approve.
