Pune: Maharashtra Government Relaxes School Admission Age For Children

Pune, 21st December 2021: There are difficulties in the admission of children born in the months of October, November and December.

Therefore, the minimum age limit for the academic year 2022-23 should be on 31 December 2022 so as not to cause any educational loss to the students, states a notification by education department of Maharashtra Government.

The following instructions have been given regarding fixing the minimum age of the child for school admission in the academic session 2022-23 in accordance with the government resolution dated 18/09/2020.

For Play Group / Nursery, the child should be born between 1st October 2018- 31st December 2019 and age should be 3 years as on 31st December 2022.

For junior KG, the child should be born between 1st October 2017- 31st December 2018 and age should be 4 years as on 31st December 2022.

For senior KG, the child should be born between 1st October 2016- 31st December 2017 and age should be 5 years as on 31st December 2022.

For class one, the child should be born between 1st October 2015- 31st December 2016 and age should be 6 years as on 31st December 2022.

Dinkar Temkar, education director (primary), his notification dated December 20, 2021, stated, “There is flexibility regarding age of admission for pre-primary education, for how many years pre | It is up to the parents to decide which primary school to go to, what age to enter and in which class to enter. Schools are not expected to deny admission for pre-primary on the grounds of age. The government resolution dated 18/09/2020 is mainly applicable for admission in class I.

The government has fixed the minimum age limit as per the aforesaid ruling. Maximum age limit not specified. There is no problem in keeping flexibility in maximum age limit.”
