8th Edition of ‘Namacha Gajar’, a Devotional Music Program On 17th July

Pune 13 July 2024: The 8th edition of ‘Namacha Gajar’, a devotional music program based on the divine compositions of our saints will be held on Wednesday 17th July, at 5 pm at Shakuntala Shetty Auditorium of Dr. Kalmadi Shyamrao High School, Erandwane, Pune. The program is organized by Kalashree Sangeet Mandal-Pune. Entry to the program is free for all on a first come first served basis.

The program comprises Abhang and Bhajans written by our Saints and chanted by our Varkari sect. ‘Namacha Gajar’ is organized every year on Ashadi Ekadashi. This year devotees will get an opportunity to listen to some famous singers like Shivanand Swamy-winner of the Marathi music talent show ‘Sangeet Samrat’, Nandini and Anjali Gaekwad, Bharat Ratna Pt Bhimsen Joshi’s son and disciple Srinivas Joshi and grandson Viraj Joshi. The artists will be accompanied by Mahadev Sagale (Tabla), Avinash Dighe (Harmonium), and Gambhir Maharaj Avachar (Pakhawaj).

The ‘Vaishnava Award’ is presented annually during this program on behalf of J. V Inagle and his wife Megha Ingale in memory of H. B.P Vishwanath Maharaj Ingale. This year the award is being bestowed upon well-known singer and composer Dr. Bharat Balavalli. The nature of this award is a badge of honour and Rupees Twenty-One Thousand in cash.

Some of the previous recipients of this award have been well-known artists like Pt Shaunak Abhishekhi, Pt Anand Bhate, Vidushi Devaki Pandit, Srinivas Joshi, Pt Hemant Pendse, and Kathak dancer Dr Nandkishore Kapote.
